Speech Transfer Systems
Bangkok Train System payment booth and Securicom Speech Transfer System
Opened on 5th December 1999, Bangkok’s revolutionary Skytrain snakes its way over 25.6 kilometers of elevated track above the congested streets of the city . With 288 km of track planned for future development, the Skytrain – which is called “the train that floats in the air” is a welcome relief to overcoming Bangkok’s notorious traffic jams.
Although the blue and white trains are fast and punctual, the railway network encountered communication problems at the counters of ticket and information booths at individual stations. Contacted by Siemens, a main Skytrain contractor for the Bangkok Train System (BTS), Risk Protection Security Solutions was requested to offer a solution to remedy the problem.
“The Securicom Speech Transfer System was the perfect solution to our communication problems. We were very impressed with the professional execution of the installation. The equipment was custom built to match the existing finish at all 24 stations and fully operational on time for the opening.”
Dr. Robert Muir, Project Manager-Siemens.
Risk Protection recommended the Securicom Speech Transfer System from Contacta, UK.
The open duplex system offers excellent voice reproduction and hands free operation. Suitable for communication through glass security screens, its compact design coupled with the latest directional microphones ensures that obtrusive background noise is kept to a minimal. The communication problem solved, Risk Protection faced three more system installation, product finish and time. However, two fo those problems had already been considered due to Securicom’s adaptability and design options.
Regarding the time factor, a project of that size would normally be undertaken in six months however through efficient workmanship and quick installation methods, Risk Protection were able to complete the project in two months.
Dr. Robert Muir the Project Manager of Siemens who was particularly happy with the system and quality of work said, “The Securicom Speech Transfer System was the perfect solution to our communication problems. We were very impressed with the professional execution of the installation. The equipment was custom built to match the existing finish at all 24 stations and fully operational on time for the opening”. This system remains fully functional today.
